Australia's service sector may lose one in ten jobs. The reason? Overseas outsourcing.
This report being prepared by the Service Unions of Australia has stated that in a worst case scenario Australia could experience thousands of jobs vanishing from the sector week after week to offshore over the next 20 years. Now, that's an amazing figure.
The report has further stated that companies like Telstra, Tqantas, ANZ, National Australia Bank and Westpac have been outsourcing jobs like data processing, IT and call center jobs to overseas countries.
In Australia, service sector accounts for four out of five jobs and 80 per cent of economic activity.
It includes banking, insurance and finance, telecommunications, media and retail, as well as government services.
