Toshiba has become the first Japanese maker to outsource production of its LCD panels, from Taiwan. The deal is on from last February, but the news has only broken out now. Fishy, no? Toshiba has formally (and finally) acknowledged the fact it is outsourcing LCD panels from Taiwan but has rejected to name the contractor. So, first it did not want to inform the whole world about the outsourcing thing, and now it is hiding the contractor's name as well. Hmm….may be to keep the whole world to keep faith in its products.
The sourcing parts clad television sets will hit the US market first and gauging the response the management will roll out its global plan further. Toshiba also is planning a new portable video player during 2010.
