Bangalore retains its top position as the ideal location for IT and outsourcing services, while beating Manila (Philippines), New Delhi fetched the second place. As per the annual IDC report which last year predicted that China would overtake India in offhsoring by 2011, this year is stating that appreciating rupee might erode India’s advantageous position. The report says that New Delhi becomes preferred choice for outsourcers for its existing infrastructure, competitive pricing and existing pool of experienced human resources. India’s Mumbai, which was in 4th position last year, dropped three places down. Auckland and Beijing moved up five and three places respectively.
I think Mumbai’s infrastructure is not as good as New Delhi, Gurgaon or Noida (New Delhi’s satellite city). Real estate rate is one of the costliest in the world in mumbai. In fact, as far as office space is concerned, after London, Mumbai has become the second costliest city in teh world, says this report. However, I have heard that real estate players are on their way to create millions of square feet for domestic and international business houses in the finanical capital of India. Outsourcing competition closes on India:IDC
